Hey everybody! I've noticed that several of you aren't jabber-boxes like myself, so I thought I'd try to get you talking... I'm going to ask one general question that hopefully each of you will answer. When you answer that question, please put one of your own. It can be anything that pops into your head! If you don't want to answer a question that was asked, then don't worry about it, but remember you can still ask your own question and provide your answer to your question... Here's my first one:
Are you married?
I am. I have been married for just over 3 1/2 years. (I'm just now starting my wedding album! ) _________________ Jennifer Weter

Hi!
I'm Carolyn and I live in Boise, ID. I'm a former Stampin' Up demonstrator and hope to get back to that in a few months. Gwen is my upline, mentor, and inspiration!
I've been married for 6 and a half years but have yet to start scrapping my wedding album. Maybe that will be my resolution for 2008.
Do you have children? I used to have two four legged children but we had to let Max go last week so right now just have Lucy, a chihuahua rat terrier mix. DH says Lucy might get a new brother or sister for Christmas.
Oh yeah, I'm not too likely to have any two legged children as I'm 50.
I'm looking forward to getting to know the others on this group!

Gwen is my upline as well!! (Does that make us SU sisters? Gwen can be our momma!! LOL) Maybe we should start a resolutions post and we can all encourage each other to reach our scrapping and stamping goals!! What do ya think? _________________

LOL! I found out about your forum from Gwen so that's how I ended up here. I do believe having Gwen as our upline does make us sisters! That means when I get the money together to come visit her we have to get together!!
I love the idea of a resolutions thread! Maybe that will keep me on track.

OK. I'll be a good sport and play the CORRECT way now that I already messed it up! LOL.
I'm married to Tim. We're coming up on our 8th anniversary this December.
We've got two kiddos (the boys in my advitar) my stepson Tyler is 10, and David will be 6 in January.
I also have three fur-babies Thomas (German Shep and Lab) Rory (Yellow Lab), and Daisy (our resident 'queen of everything she sees' cat). _________________

I have two beautiful children - Dayton who is 26 months, and Chloe who is 5 months. They are my world!
We also have two little birds who like to chirp, and an oversized poodle (standard poodle).
My husband has a coon dog that stays outside. Wow. I didn't realize we had four pets.
That would be awesome if you got another fur-baby for Christmas! I bet that would make Lucy very happy to have a play-mate again.
Merr, the resolution idea sounds like fun - maybe this year I'll actually make one! lol Which reminds me... good luck with your album Cathy! I've just done one page on mine, so I'll make you a deal if you're interested: we can each scrap one page a week, then post them on here as we do them. Eventually we will BOTH be finished! It could be fun. Let me know if you're interested. If so, I've gotta get the rest of my stuff! lol
Hmm... now a question for me... What are your Christmas plans? (If you don't celebrate Christmas, then how about New Year's?) _________________ Jennifer Weter

Christmas plans: We'll celebrate Christmas Eve at my folk's house with presents from the extended family. Christmas morning is at our house and is considerably smaller and always SO much fun. That night we'll have friends and family over for game night and snacks - everyone brings an appitizer or desert of some sort and we hang out with board and card games. Lots of fun and so much less stressful than the Christmas dinner I used to prepare!
New Years: That's my anniversary and I'd better be getting a good present this year! (Tim's always been gone with the Army on our anniversary so this will be the first out of 8 that we'll celebrate together!)
My question: Do you know anyone famous? (I've met William Shatner when I was a kiddo.) _________________

My Christmas Plans: The weekend before Christmas Eve, I'll go with my father-in-law to Wal-Mart at about 2AM and we'll do the entirety of his Christmas shopping. This will be on a Friday night. Then I'll spend the day Saturday wrapping all of the gifts for him... one for each of the 11 kids, and usually 3 for each of the 14 grandkids. Then we'll take them all to his house Saturday evening so he can put them under the tree that will most likely be set up by my sister-in-law that day. Christmas Eve will be spent at my father-in-law's house with the entire family. My husband has 5 brothers, and they all have families, so it's always fun to cram over 25 people in a 12x20 room. lol People fall over each other like crazy and it's good times. For Christmas we'll wake up here and see if Santa came to visit. I'll fix a modest dinner for my family, and we'll finish off the evening at my mother-in-law's house having Christmas with her the same way we do with my father-in-law the night before. My mother lives in NM, so she sends packages in November for us to put under the tree to open on Christmas.
It sounds like a lot of fun will be had at Merr's place! What a fun tradition! I miss the board games and all of the fun that comes with it - the Weter family just isn't a game playing family. I almost forgot - when we finish up at my FIL's I take the kids solo to my grandma's house... we usually arrive just in time to open gifts (which takes at least 3 hours because we all go youngest to oldest!) and have a piece of her infamous red velvet cake - if there's any left! Needless to say, we all come home very tired. I'm going to try to convince Darin to join us this year, but I have a feeling he'll end up visiting with his dad for awhile like he does every year.
There's no telling what we'll do for New Years. I suppose we'll see when the time comes! I do know that I'm not getting the kids out this year. It's too late of an event to have them both out.
Hmm... now do I know any famous people? I guess I'd have to answer no to this one. There was a very famous singer that had a show in Branson when I was a very young child, and we (my two sisters and I) used to go on stage and sing a few songs with him every time we were there... I cannot for the life of me remember who it was though! I'm going to have to call my mom and ask. My husband's great uncle is Ray Weter, MO state rep of the 143rd district, but that's not really 'fame' like stars have. I'm going to have to do some thinking on this one.
New question: If you could have 1 week all alone, with unlimited funds, what would you do during that week? _________________ Jennifer Weter

|

Okay, Merr you asked the question about the famous people, so here's my slightly complicated answer:
When I was very young, my two sisters (both older) and I used to go to Presley's Jubilee and get up on the stage and sing a few songs with them. Mom was telling me today that we used to go almost weekly. How about that? My oldest sister remembers it I think, but I don't remember much from being 2 or 3.
Mom also said I've met John Goodall - from Rosanne - I do remember that since she was telling me that. It was at a Girl Scout thing in Springfield, where a bunch of troops got together. Kathleen Turner was also there. I remember seeing John and thinking he reminded me of a fat family friend we used to have. lol Sounds harsh now, but that's how young minds work.
Something that just occured to me: I used to work at Beverly's Steakhouse in Branson - my mom was a cocktail waitress through the fall and part of the winter as a side job, and they let me work with her to make a little bit of money. I was only 15, so I just couldn't handle the liquor. Anyway, while I worked there I met LOTS of Branson's famous talent. The guy that beat Mahammad Ali.... Minks.... can't think of his full name right now... anyways, he used to call me darlin' and insisted on telling me a story each evening I worked and would go through the restaurant to find me each time I was there to let me know he was leaving. He was gentle as could be, but was literally hit in the head so many times, that he was partially mentally handicapped. It's sad that people will go to those lengths for some extra dough.
What else? Oh. Reba McIntyre is my deceased Papa's cousin. I can remember her brother coming to family reunions, but I specifically remember one where she was supposed to come and her agent booked a concert over the date without her consent first, so she missed out. She made it a point to call and apologize so that we were sure she just didn't think she was too good for us. Reba's mom was Papa's school teacher too.
I know I'm forgetting more, but I do have one very neat bit of information left! The next time I go to Red River, NM to visit my mom (that's where she lives for those of you who don't know), I will likely get to meet Julia Roberts! YEA! She has a place in Taos, which is the town that my mom works in, and often goes into Red River to have coffee at the coffee shop. Mom said she has coffee with her every month or two, so she'll find out if she's going to be around either next Tday or Christmas, so I can plan accordingly. How awesome is that?! _________________ Jennifer Weter

For Christmas we will go to my sister's on Christmas Eve for dinner...it's always chili and oyster stew. That tradition started over 50 years ago when my folks celebrated their first Christmas. Mom's family traditionally had oyster stew which my Dad hated so Mom fixed chili for him and oyster stew for herself. Fifty-three years later we still have that meal! After we get the kitchen cleaned up we open presents. We used to wait until the kids had been bathed and into their new pj's but now that my nephews are 12 and 15 they don't appear in pj's when there is company in the house. Later some of us go to midnight Mass then drive around and look at Christmas lights before going to our respective homes and beds. Christmas Day we will either go to my parents' house or everyone will come to our house for dinner and play games. If I'm lucky I manage to rope two or three people into playing Uno with me. I don't like playing card games like bridge or pinochle but love games like Uno. New Year's Eve is a family thing (mind you there are only 3 households in Boise...my five other siblings are scattered around the country and DH's brother is in Colorado). We usually plan a menu of "finger foods" and pick at food all night while we watch a movie or play board games or cards.
As for famous people I used to babysit the grandchildren of Victor Jory, an actor from way back. He came to visit a couple of times when I was watching the kids. I also met (and stayed at the home of) Winston Churchill's best friend. But that is about the extent of my brush with celebrities.
Now for my question...How many siblings do you have and where do they live?

Hi Jen,
I am Vonda and I will be married 7 years on Sunday, December 2. I have one daughter and she will be six in January. I am working on my christmas cards and I have not started my wedding album. I am 42 so I doubt there will be any more. We have two indoor pets, Princess is a 2 year old full blooded beagle and Peanut is a 5 + year old maltese toy poodle mix. All the people (and animals) im my household are spoiled rotten too. I on the other hand am not spoiled-- I think that is all I have to say. I don't have another question except--how far are you in your album? |

We'll start simple. I have two sisters. They both live next door to each other 2 miles down the road from me. One of them doesn't speak to us though, and is supposed to be moving to KC soon.
I also have two step-sisters and a step-brother. The step-brother lives in Ozark I think, maybe Nixa though, I only talk to him every few months. The girls live in Springfield I think. I haven't talked to them in years, so I'm not completely sure.
Next, I have 4 foster sisters and a foster brother. I have no clue where the brother is, somewhere around here in SWMO I think. Two girls are in Sparta, one in Ozark, and the other in Selmore. I speak to one in Sparta and Selmore the most and we've managed to remain very close.
My husband, Darin, has 5 brothers. His twin lives in Oldfield, and they have 4 older brothers. One in Chadwick, two in Sparta, and one in between Sparta and Ozark (Pippenville). Wow. Big families. _________________ Jennifer Weter
